INTRODUCING MISS AFRIKA

The voice, look and sound of a vibrant South Afrika

BIOGRAPHY

Elana Afrika has been one of South Africa's favourite television and radio presenters for over a decade. Born and raised in Cape Town, she tucked her University of Stellenbosch Drama and Performing Arts degree into her bag and moved to Johannesburg ten years ago to test her talents. She has since made an indelible mark on both national television and radio audiences and has a hard-earned reputation as one of the country's best broadcasters.

Her radio career includes stints on Johannesburg's 94.2 Jacaranda FM & 94.7 Highveld Stereo and national powerhouse 5FM - and now 94.5 KFM in the Western Cape. She got her television break as a continuity presenter on M-Net, before moving on to hugely-popular kykNET youth show "JIP". She was then offered a stint behind the wheel on "Topcar on Supersport", the feel-good "M-Net Show", innovative interactive programme "B on M-Net", kykNET's flagship lifestyle show "Kwela" and inspirational reality show "I Wanna Be". Add to that, recognition as an SA Style Award winner by GQ and you'll realise that Elana is a force to be reckoned with!

Blessed with the ability to relate to just about anyone - and bring the best of of interview subjects - Elana is also in demand on the corporate speaking circuit. A confident and charming MC, she is has wide appeal thanks to being fluent in English and Afrikaans, basic Xhosa – and read Hebrew fluently.

This vivacious charmer is also always ready for a night out and will now – thanks to having homes in both Johannesburg and Cape Town to aid her busy schedule - be seen at the biggest events in both cities.

Then there's "Handheld, by Elana Afrika", an online show about style, featuring interactive reports from events, experiences and music happenings. "Handheld" is fast-paced, vibey, intentionally shot on handheld devices and a great visual alternative to blogging! When she's not dominating the airwaves or taking over your TV screen, Elana is also a businesswoman and entrepreneur. She has run corporate communication company EAWorks since 2005, specialising in television and online communication. EAWorks provides internal communications solutions, creates corporate videos and online video campaigns.

If she ever has a spare second, you'll find Elana on the golf course! She fell so hard for the sport that she's about to go pro and has her eye on the 2012 Gary Player Invitational. Having become one of South Africa's best known celebrity golfers, Elana is an honorary member of the Metropolitan Golf Club in Cape Town and the Randpark Golf Club in Johannesburg – and has parlayed her passion for the links into a role as a specialist presenter for M-Net and Supersport, hosting hosts major golf and lifestyle events as a field presenter.

Elana supports two charities: Afrika Tikkun and the Chrysalis Foundation. The former focuses on changing children's lives and empowering them to become proud, productive citizens while the latter offers life skills courses to girls aged 14 to 18, who have been physically and mentally traumatised and are vulnerable in their community. She is also an ambassador for M-Net Cares, the pay channel's CSI project.

Elana has a host of sponsors - her passion for golf is supported by Cutter & Buck and TaylorMadeSA who sponsor her equipment needs. Always on the go, she travels in style courtesy of Kia, for whom she helped launch their Soccer World Cup sponsorship.
